What to Expect on Your Cancun Shark Dive
You’ll meet us at the marina in the morning for a full pre-water briefing.
Our guides walk every guest through silky shark behavior, how to move in the water, what to watch for, and what to avoid.
No prior experience required — the briefing covers everything.
From the marina it’s a 30 to 40 minute boat ride into open Caribbean water, past the reef line and into the blue. Silky sharks patrol these waters
year-round. Our 95% success rate reflects how consistently they show up.
In the water, you’ll be snorkeling at the surface with full gear provided.
Sharks move freely around and below the group. Our guides enter first and stay in the water throughout — positioned to supervise, narrate, and ensure every guest has direct contact with the experience from start to finish.
Total time in the water is typically 30 to 60 minutes depending on conditions. Most guests describe the first moment a silky shark closes the distance as the thing they remember longest.
Who Is This Tour For?
The short answer: anyone who can swim.
No scuba certification is required. No prior snorkeling experience is needed. We have taken first-time snorkelers, experienced freedivers, marine biology students, families, solo travelers, and professional underwater photographers.
The common thread is not experience level — it is wanting to be in the water with a wild apex predator in a controlled, professional setting.
We do ask that guests are comfortable in open water. The encounter takes place offshore, not in a pool or protected bay.
The ocean moves. The sharks are real. If that sounds like exactly what you’re looking for, this tour is for you.
Age minimum is 10 years old. All guests must be able to swim unassisted.
Beyond that, there are no restrictions.
What’s Included in the Charter
The $1,299 USD price covers the full private charter for your group. (up to 5 passengers)
There are no hidden costs and no per-person add-ons for the core experience. Included in every charter:
- Full snorkeling gear for all guests (mask, fins, wetsuit)
- Certified bilingual shark diving guides throughout
- Pre-dive safety and behavior briefing
- Emergency First Responder certified crew onboard
- Private vessel: your group exclusively, no shared tours
- Year-round availability, morning departures
Not included: transport to the marina, gratuities, and any additional video packages (available on request).
Two Locations, One Experience
We operate shark diving charters from both Cancun and Isla Mujeres, giving you flexibility on where you join the boat.
The Cancun departure is the most convenient if you’re staying in the Hotel Zone or anywhere along the main strip.
The Isla Mujeres departure suits guests who are already on the island or who want
to combine the shark dive with a day on the most beautiful beach in Mexico.
